How to Choose the Right Vinyl Nosing for Your Project?

Updated: 2 days ago

Here at VINYL NOSING, we specialize in reinforced wrap-around vinyl nosings, which come in two main types: "wrap-around vinyl nosing" and "regular vinyl nosing with plywood inside."

  • The wrap-around vinyl nosing is available in two thicknesses: 1 inch and 1.5 inches. The 1.5-inch option is ideal for stair treads made from 2x10s, while the 1-inch option fits stairs constructed with 1-inch plywood.

  • Our regular vinyl nosing is designed primarily for new construction projects without bullnoses on the stairs.

  • If you've installed vinyl stairs before completing the upper floors, you can use the standard click connection for the last step. However, if the upper floors were installed before the vinyl stairs, and the regular click connection isn't an option, our overlap wrap-around vinyl nosing is the perfect solution.

  • As shown here, when vinyl flooring is installed on the upper floor first, it prevents the use of the regular click connection, which would leave a gap between the bullnose and the nosing. In this situation, the overlap nosing is the best choice.

  • This option is also necessary if the direction of your upper floor differs from the tread direction.
